If you don’t get the reference to Flat Stanley, let me quickly fill you in. In short, Flat Stanley is a letter-writing project inspired by a book (nerdy, I know but mom was an English teacher!) featuring Stanley Lambchop, a completely flat boy. One advantage to being flat is Stanley can visit his friends by being mailed in an envelope.
For the assignment, students make a paper Flat Stanley and keep a journal for a few days, documenting the places and activities in which Stanley is involved. Afterward, Stanley and the journal are mailed to other people who are asked to treat the figure as a visiting guest and add to his journal.
